Things to Do in

Salobreña

The Old Town

The striking architecture of the town is an impressive sight. Whitewashed houses are scattered across the rock dominated by a well preserved 14th century Arabic Castle, 110 metres above sea level.

A walk around the different areas of the old town provides the opportunity to discover monuments and places steeped in history as well as botanical and scenic landmarks.

The Coastline

A coastline full of surprises awaits you. The beaches of El Peñon and La Charca with their whitewashed houses contrast dramatically with the deep blue of the Mediterranean. Beach bars provide a flavour of the sea where the peaceful La Guardia beach nestles close to the sugar cane.

At the end of the seafront promenade and on the other side of the river, Salobreña Beach stretches among sugar cane plantations until Los Moriscos Golf Course and Playa Granada Beach.

Summer in Salobreña

During the months of July and August, an extensive program of sport, music and culture is organized for local residents and holidaymakers. Particularly worth mentioning are the International performances in the Casa Roja such as the “New Age” concerts of the Lucero del Alba flamenco festival.

There are concerts in Lavadero Square, La Caleta and the Salobrena Auditorium. For sports enthusiast there is tennis, volleyball, five-a-side football, and angling competitions. Games and shows for children, music concerts in La Fuente Park, open air dances in parks and squares, and late night markets are some of the other summer attractions.

Winter in Salobreña

Salobreña enjoys a lively cultural scene year round. Many concerts, plays, and films are held during the winter months. From October to April you can ski during the day at the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains and return to enjoy the terrace. This is also an ideal time to explore the Alpujarras or hike along the shoreline.
